Shireen Brown explains the definition of "gross violations of human rights" for which the TRC could recommend reparations.

Shireen Brown was a “statement taker” for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). In this capacity, she was one of the people who was first to hear from those people who approached the TRC to speak about violations of human rights that they had experienced. She talks about the difficulty of listening to horrendous stories that people told, sometimes listening the 59 people in one day without a break.
